Lukáš Novotný is a political scientist and sociologist. He leads the research activities at the Institute of Political Science, Faculty of Philosophy, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. In his research he focuses on cross-border cooperation between Germany and the Czech Republic, EU regional policy and politics of the German-speaking area.

Patrick Reitinger is a social scientist and geographer. He leads the research activities at the Professorship of Historical Geography at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg and focuses his research on the history and present of political processes in rural-peripheral regions as well as on borders, borderlands and cross-border relations in Germany and the Czech Republic.

Sandra Kreisslová is a research associate at the Department of Psychology and Cultural Studies at the Czech Agricultural University in Prague. Her research focuses on contemporary historical migration and integration processes, transformation in the border areas of the Czech lands after 1945, memory culture of Germans from the Czech lands, biographical method and oral history.

Johanna Trager is an economist and social scientist and conducts her PhD studies on the topic “Czech commuters to Bavaria in the context of the European Integration” at the Institute of Social Science at Charles University in Prague. Her research focus lies on the analysis of regional, cross-border labour markets and their economic importance for border regions, as well as their classifications on an EU level.

Sandra Kropf supports the project team as a student assistant. She has a bachelor's degree in geography and history and has been a student in the master's program in historical geography at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg since the winter semester 2020/2021.


Jana Burdová supports the team at the University of Ústí nad Labem as a project manager. At the University of Bamberg, Julia Eisenmann (01.08.2019-30.06.2020), Mandy Baum (01.08.2020-31.12.2020) and Nadine Dietzel (01.08.2019-30.06.2020) have been working on the project as student assistants so far.
